    9:00am- 12:00pm, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Please join Libby Hinsley–yoga teacher, Physical Therapist, mama, and the Director of our 300 Hour Therapeutics Teacher Training–in discovering new ways to keep your pelvis (and by extension, your whole body!) healthy through mindful Yoga practices. In addition to new insights into pelvic floor muscles, the psoas major, and other key musculature affecting the pelvis, you will come away with a profound new understanding of whole-body alignment and everyday biomechanics that can support optimal pelvic health. We will move beyond mula bandha and unravel the ways our habitual postures and movements actually contribute to impaired pelvic function. And finally, we will use yoga practices to develop new habits that promote optimal health of the pelvis, not only for muscle function, but also for pelvic organs (bladder, prostate, etc.), optimal fertility and birthing, and optimal nerve and vascular function. Our day will include several yoga practices accessible to all levels, as well as lively discussion and interactive hands-on experiences. This workshop is perfect for yoga teachers, yoga practitioners, and movement professionals alike. Come explore with us!

Join Joe Taft for an exploration of the mind-body connection as it relates to one of the deepest muscle groups in the body, the iliopsoas. This muscle group has been discovered to affect our mood and health and is known as the “muscle of the soul.”

This muscle group is the key to a balanced, well-organized body and mind as it is closely linked to our fight or flight response. The iliopsoas involuntarily activates when we experience fear by tightening and shortening. It crosses over the front of the pelvis and connects to the legs and spine, so problems with the psoas may show up in other parts of the body such as the knees, pelvis, hips, neck/shoulders, sciatic nerve, and low back.

Journey into a deeper understanding of this muscle group, it’s antagonists, and the role of the gluteal muscles. We will explore your body and mind connection and learn how to release your psoas in order to experience more freedom and happiness. Everybody is welcome!

    Bio:
Rich Fabio is certified with Yoga Alliance through the Asheville Yoga Center Teacher Training program. During the training Rich really impressed Stephanie Keach (the program director and head mama bear of the yoga center) with his natural talent. He is fully committed to yoga as a way of being, taking yoga well beyond the mat. His early yogic path began with sitting meditation. While his mind approached stillness, he struggled with chronic lower back and neck pain. Rich remembers barely reaching his hands past his knees in a forward fold. He quickly realized the importance of a strong physical practice for the process of healing. Rich is now a firm believer in the importance of proper biomechanics to restore the body to wellness. In Rich’s classes, students benefit from fun dynamic postures combined with insights from his meditation practice. Rich would like to honor and thank his many teachers and the beautiful lessons that have shaped his path, especially his dear friend and guru Gary Weber.

Started in 1984, by Sharon Gannon and David Life, Jivamukti yoga is a path to enlightenment through compassion for all beings. TIME magazine recognizes Jivamukti Yoga as one of the nine accredited forms of Hatha Yoga taught in the world today.

This type of practice combines a vigorous asana practice with chanting, the study of ancient texts, music, devotion, and meditation. Yoga Journal magazine has called Jivamukti “innovative” and Vanity Fair magazine credits Jivamukti with with making Yoga cool and hip.

Adam and Kumiko will cover the essentials of Jivamukti, while delving deep into the famous sequencing of forgotten asanas, all linked together with an emphasis on the breath and Bandhas. You can expect a 3 hour practice that will include a focus on the 5 tenets of Jivamukti yoga. This vigorous asana practice will focus on Jivamukti sequences with alignment cues, including inversions, chanting, meditation, and a brief Q&A. Jivamukti yoga will change the way you view spirituality, life, beauty, each other, animals and the environment.

Roots Yoga and Qigong will be a fusion of healing arts from around the world. From ancient India to ancient China the sages have been practicing Yoga and Qigong for health and vitality. Bring an exciting blend of these ancient techniques into your life through this workshop. Poses will be fun, dynamic, and full of energy, yet accessible for any and every level of participant. Expect this workshop to be both therapeutic and meditative. Both healing modalities tap into a vital energy (called Prana in Yoga and Chi in Qigong.) Prana and Chi are strikingly similar and can be felt and enlivened by us. Building one’s chi can greatly help with stress, joint pain, sleeplessness, and anxiety. An exploration into your Chi Field will leave you with the revitalizing sense of clarity you have been looking for.
