Meet our yoga instructors
At Asheville Yoga Center our greatest asset is our people. Our teachers are among Asheville’s brightest and we are lucky enough to have some of the most accomplished yoga teachers in the southeast in residence at our studio. Many of our teachers have trained in the Vinyasa style under Stephanie Keach, while others have pursued training in various modalities ranging from ranging from alignment-based systems to Kundalini. No matter the lineage, AYC teachers are committed to providing a compassionate and informed space where students can find their own balance of effort and ease in the practice.
We do yoga all our lives. Every day; every minute; every moment. But, this is a bio about me. Ego, ego, ego. If you could only see me smirking. In my mid to late teens I practiced Bajiquan and Taijiquan, even yoga once or twice a month. I needed a change. I spent four years in Western North Carolina at the John C. Campbell Folk School. There getting more into yoga with the help of friends. Work started soon after. On my off time I would venture into yoga studios. Mostly classes with the word Vinyasa in their title and a Yin class once in awhile. Still have a warm part of my heart for Yin or any roll around on the floor yogas. I moved to Germany in 2006 to be close to my lady and there I started Ashtanga at a great studio in Stuttgart called Yoga Mitte. I have been doing Ashtanga since. Home in Florida I continued my practice at a local Ashtanga shack. Now a life in Asheville, NC has grabbed me. Roots grow here and I hope to help Ashtanga grow the same in Asheville.
Yoga Achievements: Completed Asheville Community Yoga's 21 Day Intensive Yoga Teacher Training program and am a RYT 200 hour certified yoga teacher — whatever that means. Through the years of Ashtanga practice I have found myself in workshops with humans greater than myself. Their knowledge and experience sprinkling over me. I have trained with and received teachings from David Swenson, Chuck Miller, David Keil, and other Ashtanga practitioners. Having had over 300 hours of training from Kino MacGregor and Tim Feldmann I consider them the teachers that have helped bring change into my life and practice the most. I continue to practice Ashtanga. Developing my practice and helping others find theirs. Be well.
Ashtanga: breath, move, live.
