Meet our yoga instructors
At Asheville Yoga Center our greatest asset is our people. Our teachers are among Asheville’s brightest and we are lucky enough to have some of the most accomplished yoga teachers in the southeast in residence at our studio. Many of our teachers have trained in the Vinyasa style under Stephanie Keach, while others have pursued training in various modalities ranging from ranging from alignment-based systems to Kundalini. No matter the lineage, AYC teachers are committed to providing a compassionate and informed space where students can find their own balance of effort and ease in the practice.
Julia's journey with meditation and yoga began as a young teenager, when she sought out alternative methods for coping with her anxiety and depression. Inspired by her own journey and the tools she acquired through these practices, Julia decided to complete her first teacher training in 2006, and has been sharing mindfulness and yoga ever since. In addition to holding weekly public classes in Asheville, Julia also teaches youth at risk, women incarcerated, and teens in recovery. Her mission and biggest joy in life is to provide others with the tools and motivation to heal, find self love, and live a life full of purpose, joy, and inner peace. In her spare time, Julia enjoys spending time in local coffee shops, rock climbing with her beloved, and hiking with her dog, Max.
Julia's classes are lighthearted in nature and fuse mindful asana, breath work, and playful music, to create a well rounded practice.
