Body Mind Centering Anatomy with Dayna Brayshaw
Anatomy 500hr TT credit - AshevilleAnatomy of bones, fluids, tissues and cells through Yoga Movements
$205 entire
$50 a session
All Levels Welcome
Registration on Anatomy Page
Fri, June 1, 5:30 - 8:30 pm Introduction to embodied organ awareness and principals of touch
Sat, June 2, 9:00 - 12:00pm Exploring the digestive system: Stomach, Small intestine, Large intestine
Sat, June 2, 2:00 - 5:00pm Exploring Liver, Gall Bladder, Spleen, Pancreas
Sun, June 3, 9:00 - 12:00pm Exploring Heart, Lungs
Body-Mind Centering (BMC) is a deep, internal study of the body which goes beyond intellectual and experiential approaches to anatomy study. In BMC, anatomy is explored through the direct experience of our own body systems – bone, fluids, tissues and cells.
Through movement, touch, visualization and deep awareness we can discover that we indeed have the ability not just to know about our own anatomy, but to FEEL our own anatomy, allowing our awareness to inform us beyond the level that we are generally used to in order to experience deeper, more complex sensations in the body: the texture and rhythm of the blood, the movement of organs, the flow of lymph, the cells dividing, the hormones producing. In this way one can directly experience and actively participate with the body's process of growth, regeneration, self-maintenance, and truly unnameable genius.
This work is about discovering the true beauty of the human experience, and is guaranteed to cultivate a new level of connection and reverence for your body and the many ways it dances.
Body-Mind Centering has an almost unlimited number of areas of application. It is currently being used by people in movement, dance, yoga, bodywork, physical and occupational therapy, psychotherapy, child development, education, voice, music, art, meditation, athletics and other body-mind disciplines.
Dayna Brayshaw is a Somatic Movement Educator who has studied and taught throughout Europe, the US and Israel. Her background includes extensive work with many forms of anatomy and movement studies, including Body-Mind Centering, yoga, contemporary dance, contact improvisation, 5Rhythms, Gaga, Axis Syallabus, Skinner Release Technique, and more.

Beyond Basic Yoga Anatomy with David Keil

All Levels Welcome
Full attendance required for 500hr YA credit
Beyond Basic Yoga Anatomy with David Keil is about understanding how the human anatomy functions and dysfunctions. To this end we must become aware of the postural patterns that we observe in our practice or in our student's practice. We are going way beyond just memorizing bones and muscles, instead come sharpen your ability to observe other people's anatomy to gain information about their practice. There will be tons of hands on adjustments and assists to practice for deepening asana experience based on the patterns you see in them.$205 entire weekend Register and Pay Now For Entire Training

Required Reading:
No required reading, but David's Yoga Anatomy 1 & 2 DVD is strongly recommended, we sell it for $38 at the studio. All Levels Welcome:
Although the course is designed for teachers, serious students of yoga who are not choosing to teach are also more than welcome to attend. More important is that any individual coming has a basic anatomical knowledge of the body. The workshop is designed to follow on in level from the “basic” workshop. However, previous participation in that workshop is not required.Friday, 5:30 - 8:30 pm Review Anatomical Concepts and Observation Techniques
In this introductory segment we will review some basic anatomical concepts including connective tissue, movement, and basics of seeing patterns in the human body.Saturday, 8:00 - 11:00 am Exploring the Foundations through Observation
We will build on the basic anatomy and begin with a very structured, step-by-step approach to “postural analysis”. In these lessons we will look at a classmate standing still using a plumb line and use charts to mark the nuances of the postural patterns in that body. This process begins the development of the eyes in a very organized way.Saturday, 2:00 - 5:00 pm More Observation and Movement
The next step or level of observation is through movement and we will create the space to observe people as they walk and move through it. In conjunction with this, we will then mimic the patterns that we see in the student walking so that we gain a more kinesthetic feel for what is going on in that person’s body. Finally, we will take the eyes back to the yoga mat and observe poses as they form (transitions into) as well as the state of the asana (static form). In addition to our observation skills, we will then need our palpatory skills and common sense understanding to assist and or adjust the poses accordingly.Sunday, 9:00am - 12:00 pm Adjusting and Assisting
Facilitating an individual’s progression through a series of asanas or depth in individual poses is an important facet of being a teacher. Whether the adjustments are verbal or physical they have a place in the teaching of yoga. From the development of knowing the body more intimately to seeing the body, we then move to touching and moving the body and the principles that support not only doing it in a safe and appropriate manner but in an intelligent way that supports the aim or purpose of a pose as well as the development of the student. We no longer print paper certificates (saving trees and unnecessary for YA purposes). YA only wants documentation information from Asheville Yoga Center regarding completion of our 500hr YA program, not individual units. Sat, Oct 6, 9:30 - 12:00pm "Karmikaze": Open Level Class
The Japanese word Kamikaze is usually translated as "divine wind" (kami is the word for "god", "spirit", or "divinity", and kaze for "wind"). The Sanskrit word Karma describes thoughts, words, and deeds. Everyone is a gardner, we are constantly planting seeds for good, or for bad.
A deep understanding of karma is a crucial element for a strong sadhana (good seeds). Karma is a rich subject and we will venture into this richness together through discussion, action, and reflection. Will include asana & chanting: Anytime we want to be inspired, whether we are at a sporting event, religious services, a rock concert, or need to clean our house, some type of singing is involved. The singing helps us to transcend the mundane and tap into our vibrating nature.
Register and PaySat, Oct 6, 5:00 - 7:00pm “Maha Vratam…The Great Vows” - Chanting, Satsang, and Bliss

He even gives us the bonus round, which are amazing sutras to learn. Come and enjoy this in-depth investigation, which will include chanting, discussion, asana, breathing, chanting, and meditation.

About Simon Park
Born in the rural mountains of Kwangju, Korea to parents Kun Ho and his lovely young wife Kwang Hae. The 2nd of 3 boys, Simon had an idyllic childhood surrounded by pets and adventures to the nearby mountains and rivers. Childhood takes a drastic change in a move of the family to America to suburban Philadelphia in 1978. Raised to assimilate with other American children, Simon grew up playing sports that changed with the seasons; football, baseball, and basketball. His wanderlust for travel takes hold during college, flying west to UCLA. A new world of Asian influence took hold, as well as many California adventures. In the World Arts and Cultures Department at UCLA he meets Shiva Rea, who changes his life forever. He studies Ashtanga Yoga with her and soon begins Yoga studies at YogaWorks in Santa Monica. Under the guidance of founder Maty Ezraty, he continues to study Ashtanga and begins practicing Iyengar Yoga. In 1998, Simon moves back to Philadelphia in order to support the family business, "The Natural Shoe Store".
He begins teaching in the Philadelphia area and helps to introduce the hybrid West coast style known as Vinyasa to urban Philadelphia. After a fruitful period of teaching and studying with senior Iyengar teacher Joan White, Simon relocates to New York City in 2002 to be a part of the blossoming Yoga scene. He becomes co-creator of “Body Enlightening”, the signature therapy at the newly launched Exhale Spa.
