Training Certification Programs

The
Asheville Yoga Center is registered with Yoga Alliance
to offer a 500-hour Yoga Alliance (YA) Advanced Studies Teacher
Training Certification. You may participate in any of the
trainings as Advanced Studies, not having certification being
the goal, see below to first question.
To be eligible
for the 500-hour certification you will need to have already
obtained a Yoga Alliance certification at the 200-hour level,
(from the Asheville Yoga Center or elsewhere).
To earn the 500-hour certification, you need to complete all
the required modules listed below: this can be done in as
little as 18 months, or taking as long as five years max.
Who is eligible
to attend these Advanced Studies courses?
Anyone who has had six months yoga experience can participate
in our Advanced Studies courses. These are wonderful ways
to deepen your practice. They last from 2-6 days, please see
details below. You may attend any at your leisure. A certification
will be granted at the end of attendance, and if you decide
at a later date to pursue the 500-hour RYA Certification Program,
full credit will be given towards this certificate
Who is eligible
to attend the 500-hour RYA Certification Program?
Anyone who already has a 200-hour Certification from Yoga
Alliance. (Not necessary to have graduated from Asheville
Yoga Center’s 230-hour program, any will do).
What is the
difference between the Advanced Studies courses and the 500-hour
RYA Certification Program?
The 500 hr RYA Certification Program is made up of the entire
group of Advanced Studies courses as listed below. It lasts
18 months and then repeats itself. (Some courses are repeated
annually such as prenatal, vinyasa, children's yoga, anatomy,
yin, ashtanga and more). Students do not need to complete
all the courses in 18 months, they can take up to five years
to finish at their leisure. Once 11 different courses have
been completed, after an initial $50 registration/start up
fee and $50 completion fee, (more details on the fees below),
the Asheville Yoga Center will grant a Certification of Advanced
Studies at the 500-hour level, which qualifies you for Yoga
Alliance certification. (A photocopy of the certificate and
an application form are all that are needed for YA, both provided
upon completion).
Are these courses
only offered at the Asheville Yoga Center?
No, Stephanie Keach as well as many of the other instructors
take many of these programs out on the road. Please visit
the other locations page
or the instructors individual web sites for more details.
Same credit hours will be given at any location. The programs
listed below are offered at the Asheville Yoga Center unless
otherwise noted. See a cronological list of the trainings at other studios here.
What Trainings
and Intensives are offered?

of the tenth from the next two and the eleventh from the last 6 are required for 500-hour certification.

Is Stephanie
Keach the only instructor?
No, she teaches about two thirds of the courses, just as in
the 230-hour RYA program, at the Asheville Yoga Center. We
feel it is necessary for there to be many different teachers
to provide you with as much insight in to the various traditions
and styles of Yoga.
If I have taken
a few of these courses in the past already can those count?
Yes, you will have to get approval from the director, Stephanie
Keach
(steph@youryoga.com)
How much does
it cost?
To begin initial registration for the 500-hour YA Advanced
Studies Teacher Training Certification, a $50 fee along with
an online application are required. This can be done at anytime
during the program. It’s the beginning of our tracking
system in the Asheville Yoga Center 500-hour student database.
Once you have completed all the requirements for the 500-hour
YA Advanced Studies Teacher Training Certification, you send
in an online completion form with a $50 registration, then
certification and YA paperwork will be mailed to you. The
prices of the individual Advanced Studies modules range from
approximately $150 for a two day training, to $695 for a six
day training, (does not include required texts, food or lodging,
unless it is a specific retreat - read the details). You pay
individually for each course, registering on-line or by phone.
